Simplify
I've always been a cottage type of person but lately I'm craving less clutter in mine. I've been drawn to images and photographs of interiors that are full of light and empty wood floors. I realized how far I was from that when trying to capture the light coming through my bedroom windows. I got the table cleared off and I'm happy with the shot but now I need to find a place for what came off the dresser top. I think the place might be a garage sale. It is time to simplify my home. I'm ready to keep only what I really love and let someone else appreciate and find what I've "found" in the past. What I'd really love is a big empty room with lots of windows and old wood floors to use as a studio. No furniture, just lots of wonderful light. Sigh

Oh how I know what you mean!!! I am drawn to the same thing at the moment!! I saw a book recently that was brilliant called organised simplicity (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Organized-Simplicity-Clutter-Free-Approach-Intentional/dp/1440302634/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1JYA46CSFBP3S&colid=5URK3W7IHCGD) I'm also currently working on a photography project that has a very beach cottage feel to it!! Its a beautiful image and very calming!!
ReplyDeleteHey Cassandra-I'm checking out that book now, looks great. Thanks for the feedback and the link.
ReplyDeleteI don't know...if I had to choose what I "really love" I'd end up keeping most of what I have :0) Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteHi Alina-
ReplyDeleteI'm drawing a line between what I really love and things I picked up because they were too neat to pass up. I'm still a cottage girl just with a bit more space.
It is funny how quickly clutter accumulates. I'm with you on the idea of a big open- spaced clutter free studio. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteDare to dream!
I love this b & w series!
Studio envy. I buy a publication called Studios that visits create women in their studios. One woman used her unused dishwasher to store her painting supplies. I always get inspiration from them. I'm glad you are enjoying the b/w work. I'm thinking if taking a dark room class. My PS prof. suggested it.
